Volmary
Clara is a very active person who likes to have a full day and tries to get everything done at the same time with a cup of coffee in her hand. She is a creative inventor who can get very buried in something as long as she enjoys it...
By constantly trying to keep up the mood in the group, she has found a task that she can work on forever.
plattan
New building material from old textiles
What is your work about?
My work deals with the problems of the textile industry. More than 65% of textile waste ends up in landfill sites or incinerators.
With “plattan”, I have revived an old craft technique and developed it further so that the textile waste from cotton can be used as a new building material in industry.
What in particular motivated or inspired you for the project?
I found it very difficult to limit myself to one product. I was looking for something that could ultimately be used to create a wide variety of building options.
How did you grow in your process?
Patience. Sorting, shredding, mixing, scooping, drying and gluing the textile scraps was a very strenuous process. Each individual piece of paper took me over four days.
Were there any particular challenges that you overcame?
Believing in my idea and continuing to work, even when I had doubts.
How could the project continue?
Of course, the best thing would be if the idea were to provide an impetus and if others also saw an opportunity in a rag.
