Emma
Bechtold
Emma's favorite part of her studies at MSD was spending time in the workshops. In various team projects, she contributed her understanding of organization and time management, which is an important part of the design process. A semester abroad in Canada, far away from home, gave her a lot of self-confidence in her work and person. In addition to the skills she learned during her studies, she also values all the friendships and experiences from that time, which she will keep in her memory for a longer time.

Conceptual interventions to resolve the conflict between cyclists and pedestrians at bus stops.
What is your project about?
My project is an approach to solving the conflict situation between cyclists and pedestrians at bus stops. The aim is to achieve good coexistence through design and thus increase safety for the two sustainable forms of transportation.
What particularly moved or inspired you about the project?
I am an enthusiastic cyclist myself and use my bike as my main type of transportation. Simply getting on my bike and using my own power to get around. This passion for the topic also gave me a lot of motivation during the process.
Were there any specific challenges that you overcame?
One challenge was trusting the process of my work. In the beginning, I spent a lot of time researching and communicating and was able to use this input to find a specific problem, which was previously given in projects. I had to put the creative work on the side and trust that I would end up with a well-founded project.
