Jan-Philipp
Wolff
After completing a apprenticeship in web design, he decided to pursue his passion for illustration and joined the MSD. During his studies, Jan-Philipp developed a special fascination for the field of "Visual Storytelling" and digital painting. His works are inspired by comics such as Greg Capullo's "Spawn" and well-known sci-fi mangas like Tsutomo Nihei's "Blame!".
HiveDive
A postapocalyptical Science-Fiction Comic
What is your project about?
It is a dark science fiction epic set in the distant future. At the center of the story is "the Tower," a vast metropolis where the last humans survive. The outside world was long ago overrun by plant life and a toxic fog, which also enveloped the lower levels of the Tower. The survivors have built a new home on the outside of the Tower, high above the wild plants. They are forced to climb down into the depths for resources, into the toxic fog, the sea of spores. Those brave enough to venture down there are called "Divers."
What inspired you in particular?
I want to take my readers on a journey, to show them an alien world with strange creatures and a foreign culture. A world that still has room for many more stories. The beginning of a universe.
