Between Facades
Video Installation in public space
What is your project about?
I have explored the issues of tourism and gentrification in Porto. My project aims to highlight the impact of these developments on the city's art and cultural scene. To achieve this, I designed a video installation in Porto's public spaces.
What inspired you in particular?
During my internship semester in Porto, I was captivated by the city's vibrant art and cultural scene beyond the typical tourist hotspots. Realizing that places where creativity can flourish are threatened by increasing tourism and the effects of gentrification, I felt the need to create a project that highlights the importance of such places for a city and its population.
How did you grow during the process?
My approach was quite open-ended. Initially, I considered all possibilities for execution and didn't dismiss any ideas solely because they didn't align precisely with my technical abilities or design focus. This allowed me to learn a lot of new things during the process.
How could the project continue / develop further?
Since the installation is designed for Porto's public space, I hope to return there someday to implement the project.
