Johanna
Müller
Johanna came to MSD for her master's degree, but already learned during her bachelor's degree in "Intermediate Design" that design should be viewed holistically. She is enthusiastic about many disciplines, but is particularly passionate about product design. Her designs are shaped by the play with basic geometric shapes, symmetries and a spark of utopia.
Fire & Flame
Modern fire ritual for groups of friends
What is your project about?
With my project, I want to promote interaction and interpersonal connection in groups of friends in order to counteract tendencies such as the rise in solitude, addiction, depression, etc. in our fast-paced and digital world. Fire functions as a tool here, its social warmth has been known to us since prehistoric times: it animates, transforms, destroys, protects, fascinates and invites us to sit together and communicate. "Feuer & Flamme" ritualizes meetings among friend groups and invites them to reflect, laugh, cry and tell stories together on the basis of gathered combustible materials.
What particularly moved or inspired you about the project?
I’ve always had a certain interest in playing with fire, so I happily took the opportunity to look deeper into the human-fire relationship in the master thesis and its preceding research project
