Large and Small – Discovering Opposites with Animals
A Children’s Book with Sign Language
What is your project about?
Some animals are large, others small; some long, others short. My picture book illustrates these opposites using humorous pairs of animals. Additional drawings depict the descriptive words and animal names in sign language. This helps with learning sign language and the book is designed to be child-friendly with its vibrant collages.
How did you grow during the process?
Prior to the semester I had limited experience with sign language but now I’ve delved deeply into the topic. This book is also my largest project to date where I’m illustrating using collage. Therefore, I’m not only growing artistically but also learning a lot of new content along the way.
