Home is a feeling
A bookazine about the question of what makes us feel at home.
What is your project about?
The concept of home: What and where is it? What does it mean to be home?
What inspired you in particular?
For months, I had planned to dedicate my bachelor’s thesis to endometriosis. However, shortly before starting the project, I had a strong intuition to change the topic. Having just moved and feeling a sense of inner turmoil, I found the foundation for my new project.
How did you grow during the process?
At the beginning, I sat in front of a blank page, as the topic had revealed itself to me so spontaneously. Through this process, I learned to doubt myself less and to trust in my work.
Were there challenges you had to overcome?
There is extensive literature on the topic of home within the realm of interior design. However, my focus was on the fundamental question of what constitutes a home and what evokes a feeling of being at home. A house or an apartment is not always the answer.
How could the project continue / develop further?
Like the responses to the question of what home is, my book turned out to be very individual and personal. It would be interesting to explore more perspectives and broaden the view towards concepts of homeland and migration, which I consciously chose to leave out.
